A July 6, 2023, German issue commemorates the Ivenack Oaks. In the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District is the Ivenack Zoo with five giant trees estimated to be hundreds of years old and surrounded by a 164-hectare forest pasture, a so-called Hutewald. This form of land use, which has existed for thousands of years and was particularly widespread in the Middle Ages, is now a rare example of natural and cultural-historical land use.
